About

The Leicestershire Running and Athletics Network is a partnership of 18 clubs working together to promote our sport. Originally funded by England Athletics (EA), we are now self-funding and work with various partners including EA, LRRL, L&RAA and Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport to deliver lasting improvements to the sport in our area. Our member clubs are a mixture of track & field and running clubs catering for both adults and young athletes. We work with all standards of runner; from complete beginner to international.

Road Race Standards and Safety

We work closely with the Leicestershire Road Running League (LRRL) and other local race promoters to ensure our local races our organised to the highest standards. Each year, the Network Coordinator organises Temporary Traffic Restriction Orders (TTRO) to cover league and other races. Members of the Network also provide advice to the directors of new and existing races on best practice and traffic management. LRRL documents.

Coaching

The Network is working to raise standards by growing and supporting the coaching workforce, ensuring that members of all clubs have access to appropriate advice. Our aim is that every club should have at least one qualified coach. We support coaches and leaders through our ‘Coaches Club’ resources, through mentoring and through joint club coached sessions. Young Athletes

We organise the hugely popular Primary Schools Cross Country events at Prestwold Hall and will be hosting the first ever National Final. We also work with L&RAA to promote Quadkids and Sportshall athletics.

Chip Timing

In 2012 we introduced chip timing to the LRRL. Since then we have supplied many local events with a great value service. We are now moving to a ‘state of the art’ RFID system that can work with both reusable and disposable chips. Find out more.
